December Meeting
Hi Ladies, another really fun book club and great discussion. Connor and I had a great time seeing everyone. Connie thanks for choosing a great book and hosting. Of course the food was always good.
Our December meeting will be December 15 at Kaia's house. We decided to do the same thing we did last year. Everyone should bring a $10.00 gift and a book that you loved. It does not need to be a new book. Please wrap each gift separately. Since this will take a little longer we will start at 6pm.
Our next book is called Extremely loud & incredibly close by: Jonathan Safran Foer. The book is available at the library but here is a link if you want to buy it.
The recipe for the Buffalo Chicken Dip is:
2 8oz packages of cream cheese
1 cup Ranch Dressing
3 cooked chicken breasts
Franks Original red hot to taste. (i don't usually measure it)
Soften cream cheese in microwave and add ranch dressing. Mix with wire wisk until smooth. Add the hot sauce.
Serve warm.

New Book for November 2010
Hi Everyone,
For those of you who weren't able to attend last nights meeting, we missed you.
Good discussion on a really hard to read book.
Our next book is Crow Lake by Mary Lawson. Our next meeting will be at Connie's house. Our December meeting will be at Kaia's house.
At our next meeting please come with some ideas on what we should do for our December/Christmas meeting. Last year we did the book exchange and the dice game and it was a lot of fun.
Thanks,
Tonya

July Book!
Hello Ladies,
Another great night with the Bookalicious Babes! Paige, sorry you weren't feeling well.
Our next book is: The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo by: Stieg Larsson (this is the first book in a trilogy of 3) The other two are: The Girl Who Played with Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets Nest
A quick synopsis of the book: It’s about the disappearance forty years ago of Harriet Vanger, a young scion of one of the wealthiest families in Sweden . . . and about her octogenarian uncle, determined to know the truth about what he believes was her murder.
It’s about Mikael Blomkvist, a crusading journalist recently at the wrong end of a libel case, hired to get to the bottom of Harriet’s disappearance . . . and about Lisbeth Salander, a twenty-four-year-old pierced and tattooed genius hacker possessed of the hard-earned wisdom of someone twice her age who assists Blomkvist with the investigation. This unlikely team discovers a vein of nearly unfathomable iniquity running through the Vanger family, astonishing corruption in the highest echelons of Swedish industrialism, and an unexpected connection between themselves.
Kaia, thanks for bringing the fruit and veggies! YUM
I am not sure I will be able to make next month's meeting, I will hopefully have a baby by then. I will miss everyone.
A few meetings ago we talked about building a school with Greg Mortenson, there was more discussion about this last night. Everyone thought that it was a great idea. I am sure that more emails will follow regarding the event that we were talking about in August. Here is a link about the work that Greg Mortenson does and how to get the message out. http://www.gregmortenson.com/how-to-help/ I am sure that someone could email him as well.

May Meeting
Good Morning Ladies,
Thanks again for a great discussion. If you have any fundraising ideas for the Children in Pakistan let Kate/Penney know.
We have a couple of different books that we will be discussing next month. No need to read them both if you don't have time or don't want to. The first book which is the main discussion we will be having is called The Shack: Where Tragedy Confronts Eternity by William P. Young
The second book is called Skinny Bitch : A No-Nonsense, Tough-Love Guide for Savvy Girls Who Want to Stop Eating Crap and Start Looking Fabulous by Rory Freedman, Kim Barnouin. The second book is pretty short and a very easy read. CJ also said that it was pretty funny.
The meeting will be at CJ's house, please call her for directions. 952-567-3036

April Book - 3 Cups of Tea
Good Morning Ladies,
Please note! Our next meeting will take place on Thursday 4/22 at Penney's house again.
Our next book is: Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson (Make sure that you get the right one, there are two with the same title)

We were thinking that we could collect some money at our next meeting to send for this cause, in order to setup a new school in Afghanistan it only costs $500.00 so anything that we could donate would be helpful. You will understand more about this cause after reading the book.
CJ is the person to choose the book for our next meeting.

March Book
Good Morning Ladies,
Nancy, thank you for choosing a wonderful book we had a great discussion. Sorry you weren't feeling well, hope you get better soon.
Connie thank you for hosting a wonderful meeting. Liz I would love to get the recipe for the Wild Rice Soup.
Here is the recipe for the Buffalo Chicken Dip:
1 -2 Cans of chicken (I use 1-2 chicken breasts cut up very fine)
2 8oz bricks fo cream cheese
1 Cup ranch dressing
1/2 cup Franks Original Red Hot sauce, add more if you like more spice
The recipe calls for 1.5 cups of shredded cheddar cheese, we used about 1/2 -3/4 cup. Using all the cheese makes it pretty greasy.
We usually heat everything on the stove and then add to a crock pot to keep it warm. Serve with chips and celery.
Our next book was chosen by Nicki: The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold. The meeting will be at Penney's house on March 17th. Ci sorry you will not be able to join us, enjoy Mexico though.
Don't worry when I find out what the baby is, I will email the group.
